Not Hemingway...

On Monday I was extremely excited and I announced all over Facebook how I was done and over my adobe colored walls in the sun-room. I had found a new color and I bought the Aloe color. A cool, tranquil color that was supposed to relax me into a state of oblivion all while it would make my space airy and jovial. A color that reminded of the ocean at mid-morning in South Beach. A color that held so much promise. I thought of Hemingway and his Key West house and the color seemed to be one of my greatest ideas.

The expectations of the paint color could now be considered as the worst decision I have made thus far in our marriage.  Not only does he hate the color I hate it as well. The room looks cold not cool and sterile not airy. Reminds me of  the operation room I was in during my last C section.

Maybe I should have thought of make up since during the early 80's when I was learning to apply makeup I was boxed in the Autumn category. All shades of orange, bronze, eggplant, gold and yellow. I wanted to be a Winter girl so badly, all cool and collected.  Autumn was assigned to me
by the pages of Cosmo and the color test it had on the pages that season. I took my colors and the season and with much resignation I accepted the hues of the Autumn harvest.

Now I no longer stand in front of the walls and wonder the many reasons as to why the cool color did not blend in. I, that is a bit more like Hank Moody than Ernest Hemingway. I, the fiery Latina that can longer deny her wild spirit and should express it with warm colors. I no longer pretend to be a Winter or Summer girl.

I will spend the weekend with those walls in hopes like some say I might grow into it but my decisiveness and stubborn soul knows a thing or two about wait and sees...

In the meantime we blow bubbles, we clean up and spruce up. All in the name and in search of a peaceful lazy summer season even if it doesn't include the color of Aloe.

So have you ever chosen a hideous color? How did you fix it or did you just live with it?

Happy Midweek.

Mind, Body and Soul...

My boy left on Monday and with his departure he took a piece of my heart.
I am being honest and I am not exaggerating when I say this.

As I watched his car leave the driveway and into the middle of the road I kept waving goodbye and blowing kisses. My chubby arm has more strength than I previously thought of and like a beauty queen in procession I kept on waving until his brake lights had disappeared with his turn. I stood there whispering a thousand and one prayers for his safety and another thousand and one more for his safe return.

Once I knew he was completely gone out of my 50 mile radius I swear I heard it...
No I swear I felt it... Like a really quick stone skipping across a pond or heat lighting during the summer months quickly and quietly I felt my heart take off in flight.

The many attempts for a group picture.

By Tuesday morning I woke up with a fever and a sore throat. My body ached and the fatigue was consuming. Wednesday came all so clear to me that with every action there is a reaction. That with such sadness my body had experienced I had opened the door of vulnerability and let all my shields down left my self defenseless.

Making Up Excuses...

I have been so busy at home with the kids...with friends... with life...I did attend a photographers meeting on Thursday it is always good to meet and connect with new people specially if they are photographers and bloggers... But nothing eventful to tell about such meeting other than I met a really great Lady...

The rain fell down and hard on Friday forcing me to stay in cocooned on my couch and my camera has not seen much action...

Tonight... I have vowed to put something pretty on and venture downtown with a fellow writer... insert laughter here... the difference between us is that she has been published over and over again... Me?!
You are reading my published words right here as we speak...

The night the lights went out in Georgia...

I had a beautiful post typed. Describing our trip, my experiences and what I went through with my brother on his last hours alive.  It was raw and for a second I thought here I am completely naked for the world to see. I was about to add the photos that accompanied my story when my electricity shut off. For a second the lights went out and shut down my computer prompting it to restart. I was hoping my word document was still there as it rebooted. I had already typed over 1300 words. Describing my mothers pain how I felt once I got home. Praising Jorge for being Casey’s (husband) perfect understudy and taking care of the baby while I was too busy falling apart. I wrote about Mia’s 1st airplane ride and how proud I was she did not cry once and stared at those babies that did cry.
Describing how when I got home to Savannah and saw my Christmas tree in the carport still tied to the twine used for the transportation of it all I wanted to do was to set it on fire.  I was angry, bitter and in pain and I was describing it all with fluidity and ease. Made some allegorical stories even wrote some poetry like Neruda.

Mia was wonderful during our trip and she smiled and was happy through our journey.

I also shared how my battalion rallied and like the most experienced of tribes they strategically did everything to make my holidays at least pretty and peaceful. They decorated the tree in white and silver. Yes, silver, like the silver cord of life which has been described as being smooth, very long, very bright, like an elastic cable made of light, about an inch wide, sparkling like a tinsel on a Christmas tree, and attached to one of several possible locations on the physical body.
The term is derived from Ecclesiastes 12:6-12:7 in the Old Testament, from the KJV:
"Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."

Here I share my tribe’s efforts…
The tree.

More likely it will be a long and consuming road to healing and we won’t forget him, he who touched our lives and was a vital aspect of my life all I know is one thing is for sure… Life is short and so sweet and forever I will celebrate him and the legacy he left behind.

I am now on the road to peace and tranquility... Maia does everything and anything to make me laugh...

Maia trying to put a smile on me... She succeeded.

So please stay tuned… Until then... Stay Sweet!

Zombie Babies...

So much to say since I have not being able to post that now my mind is running so fast and unbridle that I can’t focus in just one thing. I am like a kid at Christmas morning with too many presents and not knowing which one to play with. I will try to somehow make sense to all that has happened even if it just with images so perhaps you can get the picture and I won’t ruin it with words that might be redundant and useless. So much goodness and so much darkness fill my life and heart on a day to day basis that at times is hard to untangle all emotions without sounding a tad manic. Those moments when you feel like you are holding a key to something that is yet to be revealed but I sit patiently waiting for the reveal. 1. We were sick with colds for awhile…that was not fun but we are glad to catch the cold of the season so we can move on to better things. 2. Mia started eating some veggies and fruits… She hates peaches and this is her I don’t like peaches faces… adrianairis 3. We were not lucky with Sweet potatoes either… adrinairis 4. I went to Florida to visit one of my oldest friend she is having a baby and I took some images… adrianairis adrianairis 5. The Peeps that came along for the ride and to visit our friend… adrianairis 6. A Zombie Walk in our town… The Historic District was packed with Zombies… I fell in love with the Zombie Baby… adrianairis 7. Things that made me happy as I drove home… adrianairis 8. The people that make it all worth coming home… adrianairis Hopefully by the end of this week my ideas will become clearer and I will be able to catch up with the writing. Until then… Stay Sweet… adrianairis
