Winter Musings...

All day today I found myself practicing the art of breathing allowing myself to stand still. I am residing in this imaginary place which could be the bottom of a Xmas stocking and there peacefully... I rest.

I have kissed a lot and at times forgotten the language I should be speaking. I blame it on the lack of sleep and all the new and the incredible projects I am concocting. I miss the august moon but have found myself falling in love with this winter season. The crisp air fills my lungs with hope and excitement.

In the meantime I share with you a few images of the past few days while I continue to reread myself like the pages of an old book...

Summer Goodness...

.

So I will now say goodbye to my favorite month of the year with the best Margarita recipe and a few other favorites of the Summer.

Via

A simple margarita deserves simple paper decorations and lots of twinkling lights... I will keep the tradition alive throughout the winter months.

Via

I will also keep the mountains as a tradition and getaway in the summertime...

And just like that it will be all about pumpkins, pies and cinnamon brooms.
Enjoy the long weekend and please... Stay Sweet.

About Dreaming...

Playing the part of the dreamer has been easy these days.
All I have done is rhymed words that I am certain no one will ever hear.
Write stories that no one will ever read.
Characters that no one will ever know.

I have made up worlds and scenarios.
Where real witches and fairies reside.
Created love stories with some drama and
even came up with some bitter sweet endings.

Spoken words have left me they all reside in my mind.
All these colorful feelings sparkle and shine within...
Like confetti they travel in this head of mine and if you could
see inside you would see the beautiful snow-globe my mind has become.

 photo piano_zpsde90487c.jpg

How enchanted it all is and how like ripples in water they play out in real life...

 photo superhero_zps24b16be5.jpg
Baby M is a super fan of Super Why and she wanted a cape like his... Best I could do with what I had around.

But when I try to speak the words like particles of dust highlighted by sunlight which to me looks like confetti they disappear. When I try to force those words out of that sacred place they reside from my wine colored lips there is no sound.

 photo pianosong_zps243c496b.jpg

So I let my fingers do the dance creating songs and poetry.
My hands build clouds and write stories that no one ever will read.
With characters that no one will ever know.

Neverending Story...

In a room filled with a fire, hearts on a string, macaroons and reality tv we are continuing the process of getting better...

 Photobucket

This particular cold season has left us with little will and it almost feels as if we've been cursed to an eternal cold season.  Each day when we wake up and someone coughs I cry. It has been as if we were exposed to some plague. We cry because it was his vacation time and we have spent it sick. Gorgeous weather and skies but no energy to do anything but blow and wipe noses.

 Photobucket

Today I feel a bit more human but I claimed that a few posts back to only have a comeback.
Like 80's leggings the cold won't go away.

In the meantime my mind is busy since my body loses its breath quickly... my mind is running a marathon. Planning my spring ideas and photography challenges. I will be redecorating and painting a couple of rooms that need some love.

Because it is only then when your throat hurts and you can't speak that you notice things like the little cracks on the ceiling...
The places where dust has settled and began colonization.
Where you find yourself with cloudy eyes looking all around you but for some reason you can see clearer.

We expect stormy weather tonight and I am not sure if it is the electric charge in the atmosphere but I am hopeful that the storm is going to wash it all away...

Sunday Poetry...

I once knew a girl so bored with her predictable life to the point she could puke.
I once met a girl that hated herself so much and who she was that she would continue creating paper dolls in the search of self.
I once met a girl with so much time in her hands to the point her dreams would dissolve like cotton candy on your warm tongue.

She searched through magazines and books through everything that was tangible.
Everything and anything anyone could see.

She traveled....
That girl was crazy... like the birds searching for a new identity.
She flew searching for more...

Confused, scared and ashamed.
Confused she began to replicate, duplicate... Shiny things are so beautiful.
She raised mirrors all around her... Her own little glass house.

I once met a girl that wanted to be me...

In the Meantime... 2012

I've hopped on cars and bicycles and even kissed a lot. It was tough to
get myself out of the Winter haze and the darkness it brought upon.
Slowly I am embracing it all. Taking in deep breaths of crisp air. In
return it feels like is cleansing my soul. There is solitude in the height of
the night and the moonlight shines brightly and so clearly marking my path
with such promise that I continue moving forward.

In the meantime...
I will listen, reflect and read myself like the pages of an old book...
One I read many times but never fails to teach me new lessons, new meanings
and perspective.

In the meantime...
I must unplug I have a house filled with people I adore.
But I needed to wish you and your family a prosperous 2013.
Happy New Year Peeps and please stay sweet.

 ******
As a tradition La Dulce Vida republishes every New Years Eve... A Bohemian Toast.
This poem is very famous around the world mostly in Spanish speaking countries. I remember when I was growing up, we use to gather around the radio to listen to its broadcast every New Year’s Eve at the hit of midnight. It was written by Guillermo Aguirre Fierro in 1915. From there it has become a tradition of this night and to this date, it is still being broadcast. It is really beautiful. Here is the English version. Although translating a poem into another language is a task, the essence can be felt.

A Bohemian Toast
Around a cantina table
on a winter’s night
rejoice-fully were sharing
six happy bohemians
The echos of their laughter were escaping
and, from that quiet town
they were going to interrupt the imposing
and profound silence
The smoke of aromatic cigarettes
in spirals was raising to the sky
symbolizing, as it dissipated into nothing
the life of dreams … the dreams of life
I neglected to tell you, in that evening
this bohemian group
among laughter and sorrow, were celebrating
the happy arrival of the new year
Suddenly, a manly voice said
It is Midnight, comrades
Let us all toast for the year
that has become part of the Dead
Let us toast to the year that starts
May it brings us sweet dreams
not sour grief
Let us toast this time to the hope
that Life throws at us and the pains alleviate
I toast that, in my existence
already riddled with violence and vengeance
if, in my heaven, from yours – clean and divine
would shine but
a star … my hope
I drink and toast to my past,
which was of light, of love, and happiness,
and in which the gorgeous foreheads
of seductive ladies
had joined mine
I toast to Yesterday that, with sorrow
today covers with darkness my poor heart
scatters its comfort
bringing into my mind the sweetness
of joy, of tenderness, of good fortune, and concerns
I toast that in my mind
sprout a torrent of divine inspiration,
that the chords of my lyre vibrate
the verse that yearns, sings, and fall in love
I toast that my verses
reach the center of the woman that I love
for that with interest my passion pays off
for that I get intoxicated with the nectar of her kisses
Continued the barrage of meaningless phrases
of those so human
and, after each phrase of ardent enthusiasm
applause would grow
They toasted to the Motherland, to the flowers
to the chaste loves and to heated passions
that fill with roses the mud of pleasure
Only one toast was missing, Arturo’s
the pure bohemian of noble heart
he stated that he only wanted
to steal the inspiration from Sadness
And this way he spoke, with inspired intensity
I toast to the woman, yet not to the one
in which you find solace in sadness
not to the one that gives us her charms
when you kiss her soft and scented curls
I do not toast to her … No, comrades
Sorry that this time I don’t please you
I toast to the woman, but only to one
to the one that offered me delights
and engulfed me with her kisses
I toast to the woman that tucked me in the crib
I toast to the woman that taught me from childhood
the value of profound and truthful love
I toast to the woman who cuddled me in her arms
and that bit by bit gave me her entire heart
To that golden and blessed old lady
that with her blood she offered me life
to the one that was the light of my soul
today I toast to my Mother, to my darling Mother
To that sad old woman that lives and cries
and to Heavens implores that I return
to my Mother, bohemians, who is the sweetness
poured into my sorrow and, in this night, a star
who wishes that I soon be with her
The bohemian became silent
and not a word spoiled the sentiment
born from pain and tenderness
and it appeared that, over that atmosphere,
was immensely floating …
A Poem of Love and Sorrow

On the cusp of Spring...

Is it so wrong to keep searching for more?
Is it so wrong to question and know some of the answers but yet continue the search?
I need to be able to show when something is right and wrong.
At times I need to prove it.
Inconsistency is what makes the world go and coherence is what I search for.
I am ruthless in the search of it.

Photobucket

With those ideas already set in place...
This weekend I wanted to do so much that I stood still...

Photobucket

Finding myself on the cusp of spring which has got to be my favorite time of the year.
Reminds me of a dance... A beautiful, orchestrated dance between two lovers.
I woke up in a daze and it's Sunday and it came in and reminded me that the weather is perfect to take Ole, Blue for a ride...

Photobucket

Bathe in sunlight I was the eventide star...  As I ride I remember those days on my tiny island when I would ride at sunrise and would not quit until sunset. My legs felt strong and able as if I still had it in me to ride to Neverland.  As I pedal and push down and the tires eat the pavement all my frustrations and anger burn away into embers...

Photobucket

My spirit is homespun by the great-grandmother with long black hair. That same spirit can be found within her...

Photobucket

One day when she is able to run we will run as fast as we can....
Until the whole world becomes a pinpoint of light...
With roses on her cheeks she will look at me full of smiles...
Smile that promises nothing else is left but beautiful light...

Photobucket

Hope your weekend was beautiful...

Ask And You Shall Receive...

Ask And You Shall Receive... Remember my last post. Begging for sunshine.
The universe knew I needed these past two days...
Nothing but sunshine...
Mother Nature delivered....

Photobucket

So we went with the flow...

Photobucket

Who are we to argue with nature...

Photobucket

With our hands scented by fresh citrus we kicked the soccer ball and feasted on grilled hamburgers. Tomorrows forecast is 40% chance of rain. But it's OK because we did not let today go by...

Photobucket

Hope you are taking time to enjoy what nature brings to your side of town...
Tomorrow might be soup instead of the grill but it will give us a reason to snuggle on the couch.
We are going with the flow... since every flow has its ebb.

Until then ... Stay Sweet!

The Power Of Sunlight...

Inspired by sunlight I went about my weekend. It's like the earth is tilting at strange angles just for me...
In a blink of an eye all my loved ones are bathed in beautiful golden light.
Then they smile at me and I fall in love...
With them, the earth, the sun and the whole universe...
So I'd stop time with three blinks of my eyelashes...
I'd hear played out a symphony of sun and voices and laughter and I can still remember each note.

And there's the Georgia sunset that slays me. The golden hues mixed with blues and grays and reds make me lay down the paintbrush forever and pick up the camera. There is no way I can reproduce the clouds, colors and the depth that naturally form above me. I feel too restraint and constricted to be able to create such spirals and circular motions with such fluidity.

So many ideas came about this weekend... And while sucking dry the well of inspiration and ideas I have lined up just about every project and every image I wish to create this year. I am building some art pieces... again... more photos and images that need manifesting...
Making those visions and dream images come to real life.
I am making objects out of paper and I am learning so much from the medium.
We can create just about anything...
So I am...

Gracias Mami!

Spend Sunday inspired by friends that grow their own food...
I want chickens and pigs and maybe a peacock. And... No, I won't eat the peacock.

Hope your weekend was wonderful... Stay Sweet!

About Love and Light...

Not everyday I am on top... Many times I've been low... So low...
I catch myself picking the dirt off my fingernails because they are filthy from scratching the ground.
It is the essence of such sorrow and sadness that fuels me to move forward.
I dig into the ground and dirt searching.
Trying to steal the inspiration from darkness.
Desperately trying to reflect light where it needs it.

Photobucket

So I search for love and light in most places. I might be guilty of being a hopeless romantic.
With certain notions and emotions... But I fight hard to stay in that one place... Full of love and bliss.
I understand that there will be days when my body aches and my mind will be clouded and the mundane will take over but that my love is love.

 Photobucket

We are making plans for the Spring fertilizing the ground we walk upon...
Because nothing says love like planning our future.
As we watch our little saplings grow strong we become rooted and grounded.
I have a nephew coming in to see us and our beautiful town.
The local paper is sending me and my camera on more adventures...
From a Punk Rock concert to the Russian ballet.
We are looking forward to the weekend and all it has to offer...

Seize The Moment...

New Years Eve was lovely...

Our 12 dollar Champagne was really good... We both finished the bottle which is rare...

We send off our wishes for 2012 on Chinese lanterns hoping they land somewhere among the stars...

Because every chance we get we will turn it into a date...We don't need fancy.
We just need that alone time when we can ask each other what we want and need and be fully aware...
And we deliver for each other...
For ourselves...

Because we know the happier we are...
The happier they are...
Making life sweeter.
2011 solidified that family is everything.

This was my last sunset of 2011 from my window.
I hope you feel brand new and ready to rock 2012.
