La Vie Boheme...

Riding with that feeling of making everything out of nothing I continue marching through this thing called life. I had not a penny in my pocket but felt like Madonna when I put my sunglasses on. So I rode to watch the sunset because it is free. Each day a symphony an orchestra playing a new tune.

It is music if you watch closely and if you have company what else could we possibly need.

Killing time for free.

As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness. ~Henry David Thoreau

One more just in case you read too fast and did not get it...
This is free...

That Girl...

It is Thursday afternoon and as I am pulling all of the sarongs off the garden bed I notice each one these sarongs are so beautiful. Beautiful because they are handmade and they are uniquely patterned and dyed. Indonesian art brings me so many memories and I daydream...

Ms. M asks what could I possibly be doing and why all the sarongs are laying outside.
I only respond with ... There was a frost last night.

She looks in my eyes and with a deep sigh of relief says:
"You are so cute... you tucked our plants to bed last night."

I am that girl that puts her plants to bed with fingernails full of dirt and promise.

About Words...

I went looking for signs of Christmas since it's all around me and I have yet to feel it or find it. I went looking for Christmas and I fell. Sometimes I wonder why I have such imbalance. I have fallen while standing not many have that ability. My father had a thousand names for it as I was growing up and I had a thousand excuses for my lack of balance.

Clumsy I guess would be the correct term but such word for a language lover is not enough. Not womanly enough or expressive. For someone that loves the sounds of words like sycamore, cicadas, watercress, ethereal, pastiche, ravage, femished... clumsy is just that.

Because words have power and they stick to you like gum or the silly putty that I am trying to remove from my carpet and words have other words that connect to them and those synonyms can and will drive you crazy specially if you let them echo loudly in your head.

Now I am limping. Those old words and echoes came out and I blurted  it out how much of a loser I am for once again gracefully kissing the ground. I picked up my purse and the items that have fallen out of it as well as the bit of dignity and pride I had left. I sat to watch the boats cheerfully say "Merry Christmas"  as everyone ohh and ahh at the passing vessels. The lights were shining on my girl's face and she said it happens to me all the time.

Words they cut you... So right there I came up with  brand new words to describe our lack of balance.

Gravitational Defiance
Time Traveling Faeries
Faster Than Lighting
The World is too slow for our etheral selves.
Those who run seem to have all the fun ~Madonna
Wormhole Chasers. (From the wormhole theory)
Super-Intergalactic Princesses

I have found Christmas and I have also found a new set of words to describe those girls that travel faster than light. Hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend.

Postcards From A Stationary Nomad

This weekend I was loyal to myself and I allowed for the body to dictate what it wanted and needed. So I surrendered. I waved my white flag and gave up. It took over and I let it guide me like a surfer would ride a wave... I hung ten. In cruise control the physical went and wandering the psychological went. Providing a form of escapism enviable of those like Houdini.

And I tell myself it is going to be OK and I cheer each time consciousness and awareness becomes apparent. I hold the belief that this is making me stronger just making me hungrier. Famished when I feel better I take the world and try to gulp it all in.

So they went on to painting and to do things that are fun...

But nothing and I mean nothing is sweeter than when I slow down and I get home to her.
She proclaims in her loud raspy voice Ni Hao Mom because Kai Lan taught her words while I was gone and now she says things like super happy. Thanks Kai Lan and I am jealous of your very cute bug like eyes and your attention grabbing ways.

About Women's Day...

Today I want to tell you that I believe in strong girls and gossameriness.
Everything that has inspired me as of lately are strong powerful women willing to make changes.
I have met women through this space that are so amazing that I could fill each and every one of my pages of my journal.
Because they manifest dreams made out of stardust that are full of energy and faith.

Photobucket
My M&M's may you always find strength and beauty.

Because the definition of feminism is no longer masculine strength but a personal choice as to what defines us. A singular and personal choice. Unique like each one of us. I've seen warrior goddesses dressed in lace dripping pearls on their necks. I've seen lionesses in candy cotton hair. I've seen fairy size girls take down a whole city. Because strength has nothing to do with physicality or size.

Photobucket

Because we know there is no need for our hearts to turn into stone and to care for something is actually harder than not caring at all.
We know caring will at times break us...
Those flaws and that chipped surface will only add character to our suit of Armor.

And all I might be to you is short and weak but like tattoos... I carry each scar from all the battles.

Celebrate the women in your life... Stay Sweet!

It's All About The Girls...

There are many strong and real reasons why being a woman is magical and pure perfection... Starting with the most vain which is the ritual of wearing makeup... All the colors and all the people you can be when like artists we pick up our make up brushes and apply...

la dulce vida adrianairis

Reflecting light and producing shadows where they need be... Creating magic with pencils and colors... Some of my girlfriends think that no artist resides within them... But as I watch them apply their make up creating cherub like faces which would make Michelangelo quite jealous of their techniques... I realize the innate artist that reside within each of us.

Then there's that deeper reason why being a woman and Creatrix is magical...
Because as I was applying the mask with my fingers I felt like as I was molding her face to her image to whom she now is... I studied Every pore... Every crease... Every eyelash...
As if I was drawing unto her like a sculptor perfecting each stroke...

As they get older... As they become more independent... As they leave our lap those moments are fleeting... In a blink of an eye they are gone... They wish to fly away leaving us parents with less time for those moments... Where they stand still... Where we stand still... Where we admire our creation with pride and in awe. Where I can really look at her for who she is... Every pore ... Every eye lash... Every crease...

Adriana

Today came and went ordinary and mundane until the postman rang my doorbell and delivered sweetness from NYC... My playmate as a kid and cousin sent a package which made everyone smile. With care and devotion she put it together we all knew she had done it with such care and love... and we knew it was sealed with a kiss like this post is for her...
Sealed with a kiss...
Love you Alma!
Forever grateful and happy you are a part of our lives.

Caterpillars and Butterflies...

I've shared how I always wanted a sister... Although I am clear where I stand in the role of Mom she seems to really like me and wants to spend time with me... She really wants to hang out... At times she talks to me as if I am her older sister and she has a few secrets to share...  It is such a fine line between "friends" "sisters" and being the respected "Mom"... A balancing act for sure...

Dress from the Tea Collection

And I know it will come the time when I will have to schedule myself in her life... To be heard, noticed and seen... We all know they evolve... They change and grow and like caterpillars the transformation is magical and overwhelming... We see the beautiful butterfly for what it is... All of its colors and shades the freedom and right to fly away... Without any concerns sucking the nectar out of each flower like she should suck the sweet nectar out of this sweet life...

Photobucket

As mothers we can never verbalize the love, admiration and the depth of our emotions... It's complex and so delicate... Like a silkworm I work hard in weaving and building her wings to fly to help her land softly wherever she goes but like H.G Wells... I desperately try to build a time machine to contain and encapsulate all these memories...

Photobucket
This is our sleepovers in the summertime Maia wants to sleep on the couch while I sleep on the other couch... We watch movies until the late hours...

I pray everyday for the ability to remember it all... every smile...every joke...every song... every dance... every word... every secret...
Happy Midweek Peeps!
Stay sweet...
