Colors...

Sometimes... I picture myself wearing all black skintight clothes that hugs every curve of my body... My hair is all pulled back in a ponytail which is sleek and comfortable for all the situations and villains that I must endure. I wear dark glasses a la Matrix and like a cat on a hot tin roof I jump between places and situations... accomplishing victoriously all goals that I have determined for myself...

Sometimes... I picture myself wearing a black cashmere sweater with Coco Chanel sunglasses and my hair its pull-tight in a bun and I have more than time and hours to waste and I sit in a coffee house and I write and those passing by are intrigued by the girl wearing the black cashmere sweater with very expensive sunglasses and time to waste and they wonder if she can write...

Sometimes... I picture myself wearing a black ball gown while I walk the carpets which lead me to the NYC Metropolitan  for the opening night at the opera... I wear long cocktail gloves and I am carrying my theatre glasses which of course belonged to my great grandmother which she too attended many decades earlier... If you look closely to the program you can find her name which precedes by the words - In honour of...

All the time... I sit around in whatever I can find at that particular moment to wear... I imagine the sometimes... Think of the what if's ... Mostly in Black and White... In the end all roads lead me back to colors a kaleidoscope of colors... real life is full of colours... More colors than the 96 crayon Crayola box that I wanted as a child... I take off my shades and see life and walk on all of its vibrant colors and I feel alright...

rain…

Today my cheeks were wet like the ground where I stood… it has been raining all day and I guess my soul is craving the springtime. This winter has ravaged my soul and spirit like the garden I tend to in warmer climate.  I’ve been telling myself and writing words of encouragement and forgiveness because it is good to forgive ourselves when we are weak and powerless when so much needs tending to and so much is undone… like me… at times I become undone.
But I look for that place of goodness and like a blanket I cover myself with it… head to toe…

It comforts me, soothes me… it saves my soul….
So I look for ways to distract my mind… to do good with my time…

Creating a world that is beautiful for her to exist in… recreating a small space for her to be safe and loved…
And from there we travel to far away and exotic places as we sing songs in tongues that she’s yet to understand…
but we do…

Because dreaming, creating, imagining is free…

Because it’s never as ugly as I tend to believe… and where shadows are cast some type of light source was behind it…

and I do so full of hope… that to weep is never wrong. I guess I forgot that the buried, lost and underneath parts of life are the sweetest. And regardless of how I feel…
I am alive and I can chose to weep or rejoice…

Tomorrow we will rejoice…

serendipity…

On Friday all I wanted was to go to Sam’s Club buy a phone charger and come right back but things are never how I plan them. A friend came by invited me to accompany her for a few minutes and I ended up joining a party, watching a fashion show, meeting new people, eating some yummy Mexican food and drinking a pitcher of Margaritas and I was back to the comfort of my home 4.5 hours later. I told my friend Paige…”We’ve learned to master the art of fun”. Here I share a few pics of what I saw...

This beats Sam’s Club anytime.

My beautiful city has a great art school… all visual and performing arts are highly regarded in my neck of the woods.

I have so much to share but for now I close my post until I can get all these ideas and information together because I really wish to share. To me there is nothing sweeter than a head full of creative ideas.

Until then…Stay Sweet!

Halloween & Lace...

"I consider lace to be one of the prettiest imitations ever made of the fantasy of nature; lace always evokes for me those incomparable designs which the branches and leaves of trees embroider across the sky, and I do not think that any invention of the human spirit could have a more graceful or precise origin."   Coco Chanel, April 29, 1939

I just love Coco... Is almost Halloween and this year I am battling a cold. All I can hope is that I am feeling much better by Saturday’s Masquerade Ball since hubby and I chose not to host Hallows Eve this year. I have decided to wear a long dress and a mask that I’ve yet to make because I would like to make one out of lace and my body has yet to drag itself to the fabric store. I feel inspired by a mask that Madonna wore during a photo shoot years ago… hers was a butterfly mine will be different but made out of a lace like material. Like I said I am inspired. Since I believe that lace is the invention of a goddess.

The girls already got their costumes and Maia wanted to be a gypsy and she wanted one of those mass produced costumes like the ones you buy at Target and then you have 10 of the same at your door that night. I remember the year of High School Musical we had 7 Sharpay’s at our door.  Crossing my fingers but then again might be a blessing in disguise if she learns that is better to create your own.

Since we are not holding a Halloween party this year; we have chosen to instead cuddle up by the fireplace, tell stories, scare a few trick-or-treaters, rampage and pillage the kids’ candy and watch a few scary movies. There will be other years for us to once again host the parties but for now simplicity will be key and will reign in our haunted house.
