Child of the Moon...

I heard through Facebook that CNN on Friday would be honoring the service men at Tybee beach by releasing at least 35 Chinese fire lanterns to honor the fallen heroes.  All I could imagine was this...

I know those are more than 35 but its all in my head.  So I pictured at least 100 faces being lit by candle and American pride. I, the child of the moon, the one that prefers going to sleep at sunrise instead of sunset set voyage to Tybee island.

By 5am it daunt on me that I was the only citizen unaware that this was not going to happen. The solitude...the quiet... All alone on a beach during twilight hours. The sunrise never showed up either. Not like in the movies anyways. It was cloudy and windy but it was mine.

All mine.

The quiet time to find myself and put my thoughts in order.
Solitude becomes sweeter as I mature.
In my solitude its where I find myself the least alone.
I now also have a new goal...
To photograph the perfect sunrise.

The sun did not show up the way a photographer dreams of  a sun rising but this made up for the absence of bright lights...

Showing up when the family is getting up to begin their day with a box of these made me a hero.
Dangerous, warm and yummy like the sun.

  1. Beautiful pics. I agree, I cannot function unless have those quiet moments. As fleeting as they might be they do a lot to replenish my spirit.
