A Year In The Life Of...

When I sit down to write I try to do it where I can show a bit of my soul through my words…
At least I try to... I find myself slowing down as I start typing the action of it makes my words come out with more ease and fluidity and with the intention I really mean for them to have...  Sometimes my emotions become tangled just like my hair in the mornings and it is hard to define and understand...
Consequently the words that I want to come out don't and everything gets lost like mist in thin air...

When you have to translate your train of thought from your native language to a new language and edit yourself as you go along most of your true feelings and emotions get lost... They get lost leaving you impotent because the words do not come out right... The power of words and the weapon they can be when we know how to use them.

All this talk about words means only one thing...  My blog has reached a milestone it is one year old.
The blog has been one of the greatest tools I have yet to use. It has helped me in my development not only linguistically speaking but emotionally. When I began the blog a year ago I did it with the intentions of keeping my family updated with what was going on with our family and a medium for me to publish my photos. Never did I think any of you would read or connect with me.

I have now documented not only my highs but also my lows. I celebrated the birth of my daughter but I also said goodbye to my kid brother. I connected with family that I had not seen in years and even documented the birth of a baby of one of my oldest friends... I photographed all my celebrations as if they were the last... I have shared so much... The love that I have for this town... The love that I have for family...  The love I have  for fashion and art in all of its expressions... The things that make sense to me and when they move me I share them with you and with everyone that comes across and when those that come across also connect I feel more in touch and right there I know...

I belong in the big scheme of things.

Moving on to my weekend...
Swimming, food, family and nothing but end of the summer goodness...

Photobucket

Sunday was tough... Outside was grey and it was my kid brother's first birthday since his passing but we grabbed our umbrellas and headed downtown with the family... I love going to restaurants and saying we need a table for a party of twelve... I like the feeling of big families a whole gang taking over a restaurant for brunch on a Sunday... The kids chatter and the glasses clinking and laughter and too many topics to be able to keep up with...

My son Jorge

He was kind and sweet when I felt like I was going to drown in the puddles the rain left earlier... but looking inside the umbrella you made me grab as we were walking out the door I saw nothing but a shower of tiny hearts bathing me and my soul... You knew today would be grey and stormy and I could have sworn you put all those tiny hearts for me...

Welcome to the Family Rome...

I honestly don't see the world through  rose coloured glasses like my harsh critics might think... It is nothing but seeing the world through the ways you love me...

I hope your weekend was filled with family and friends with love and peace... May your umbrella be always handy for when your skies are grey...

Stay Sweet...

  13. When we start with the reading of your blog, certainly we were attracted because of the quality of you graphic material, but while we was reading more and more, i notice you have a grat heart, and the way to talk about your family and your feelings is awesome.
Congratulations, your blog is amazing, the way you write is truly good.
And one of your phrases makes a lot of sense, "I don't see the world trought rose coloured glasses", you are right, you don't need to see the world these way, the world is about what you feel, and your words make clear what you feel.
Hope you don't mind if we left our URL here with you, and besides, we hope you dont care if we visit your blog regularly.
