Queen Bee... Teens and Art...

I am a Martini girl and when a friend invited me to Jen's and Friends on the corner of  Bull St. and Congress St. I had to go... after the week with family I needed some girly and "me" time. "It tastes like a kiss from an angel" said my friend Anita when describing the Savannah Bee Honey Vanilla Martini we just ordered... It was soft, delicate but yet bold and so yummy. My Savannah Bee Martini brought up many thoughts. (I will be going back to get that recipe)
Something about the honey... its rich history... The queen bee... how arduous the daily work of a bee...all the products we can use from it...there are no bee made products I don't like.

The Burt's Bees buttermilk bath soak is a smell that I will always associate baby Mia with...a combination of sugar cookies and vanilla hints that made it so easy to just wanna eat her. While my Mama visited Savannah I took her to Savannah Bee Company there is not one product in there I would not mind having at home from the lotions to candles, to honey varieties and...

Have you ever tasted an artisan honeycomb with cheese or apples?!

That's when you realize how beautiful and perfect our universe is. How these tiny seekers of sweet nectar and sunlight weave magical honeycombs so perfectly and so divine.

If you take the kids there you can entertain them inside an educational honeycomb they have set up... they also have a screening of bees and the whole process of harvesting on a screen wall.

:::alert this might be something i might regret later for writing on my blog:::

At times I feel foreign in my train of thought. Since I live life not to make money and that... honey...can be a problem... I live life to get to know my essence and myself and in the process I've come to realize that life is about what I do with my time and who I chose to include in my experiences. This happens of course thanks to my lovely husband. Before I never had the opportunity to raise a child and be a stay at home.
I was a single parent to Jorge worked 60+ hours a week and no family or friends help in sight.

Now, today and with them... everyday... I have time to get to know myself and them and life.
Because of my husband these past 12 years... I have been the happiest...The happiest 12 years of my life.
Where I became queen bee and populated our hive.
Where he made sure I never felt alone.

Moving back to the weekend…
I went with my 19 year old son Jorge to an art show. I try to make "dates" with them. Instead of canvas a blank skateboard deck served as canvas medium and used to display the art.

Surf Punk music, belly-dancers and an aerial silks show to entertain us while we watched local artist do their thing.

All free... got. to. love. Savannah, GA.

Love love to find events we both enjoy and can spend some one on one time. Just him my little man and I doing things I know he digs. Although I don’t think he would think I am cool saying dig.

You dig?!

After the show we met friends at the Mellow Mushroom for pizza which brought a close to my Sunday night and very sweet weekend as queen bee of my hive...

So…How was your weekend?

  1. Looks like a great time. I think it's so important to have dates with your kids. My hubby just took our eldest daughter on a dinner date last night and they both had a great time. And I love that your 19 year old son still wants to hang out with you! Even if you say "dig"...ha ha! ;)

  26. I use honey as a facial mask when I am soaking in a bubble bath. As the skin warms the honey, the beeswax works its magic, then I scrub it off with sugar and facial cleanser. Baby butt smooth.

  27. That made me laugh - I can dig it baby! Love raw alfalfa honey - there are so many vitamins and minerals in the raw - and alfalfa is MILD (not strong like clover) - love it.
