There are many strong and real reasons why being a woman is magical and pure perfection... Starting with the most vain which is the ritual of wearing makeup... All the colors and all the people you can be when like artists we pick up our make up brushes and apply...
Reflecting light and producing shadows where they need be... Creating magic with pencils and colors... Some of my girlfriends think that no artist resides within them... But as I watch them apply their make up creating cherub like faces which would make Michelangelo quite jealous of their techniques... I realize the innate artist that reside within each of us.
Then there's that deeper reason why being a woman and Creatrix is magical...
Because as I was applying the mask with my fingers I felt like as I was molding her face to her image to whom she now is... I studied Every pore... Every crease... Every eyelash...
As if I was drawing unto her like a sculptor perfecting each stroke...
As they get older... As they become more independent... As they leave our lap those moments are fleeting... In a blink of an eye they are gone... They wish to fly away leaving us parents with less time for those moments... Where they stand still... Where we stand still... Where we admire our creation with pride and in awe. Where I can really look at her for who she is... Every pore ... Every eye lash... Every crease...
Today came and went ordinary and mundane until the postman rang my doorbell and delivered sweetness from NYC... My playmate as a kid and cousin sent a package which made everyone smile. With care and devotion she put it together we all knew she had done it with such care and love... and we knew it was sealed with a kiss like this post is for her...
Sealed with a kiss...
Love you Alma!
Forever grateful and happy you are a part of our lives.

great post. I really enjoyed this and it made me a little teary eyed. I have a 20 month old and I know the days are passing so quickly and I see her leaving her 'baby' days and turning into a girl.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a good girly pamper! Also you describe the feeling of being a mummy so perfectly. Its an emotional one x

ReplyDeleteHi there, new to your site via Welcome to the Weekend Blog Hop.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for my daughter to get a bit older for more girly things. For now I am transported to my childhood every time we play with her cooking set, My Little Pony and so on. She is the only girl between my fiance and his siblings. She is going to be one spoiled Little Miss.
Have a great weekend. :)
