Kairos Time...

I can hear the thunder rumbling from a distance... the clouds are rolling in and it becomes almost night time in the blink of an eye... Thunder is the sign of things to come... A warning mother nature gives us so we can run as fast as we can and crawl into safety... In life I have crawled my way to safety many times...

We see red flags and warnings from people and situations we encounter and at times for fear of becoming cynical and jaded we give in... We give in even though we see those warnings... For some reason we surrender to the experience with x or y subject... We surrender most likely to heartache and pain and we know it... Makes me wonder why do we subject ourselves to such painful experiences or are we just surrendering to the fear of being alone...

Not certain as to the why don't we listen to ourselves that voice within when it speaks softly but yet we do listen to that voice when it's angry and full of repent and melancholy for all the time lost...

The passing of my kid brother has made me more aware of time... Of chronological time and what it means... The ancients Greek had a great and fantastic concept of telling and keeping up with time and they had two words for it... Chronos and Kairos  while the former refers to as chronological time which you and I are well aware of the latter signifies a time in between, a moment of indeterminate time in which something special happens. What the special something is depends on who is using the word. While chronos is quantitative, kairos has a qualitative nature.

Which makes me think of things like.... Carpe Diem, Window Of Opportunities, sliding doors, Crucial Time...

Moments and experiences I should never never waste and the importance of those that are sharing that experience along with me...

This has proven to be one of the most painful and gut wrenching experiences as a parent... Watching them deal with time lost and the disenchantment. I can't bear to see my kids hurt by others or get their heartbroken. Like the most chivalrous of gentleman I wish to clear the way from puddles and branches... rocks and pebbles that someone might have kicked on their way...

But I am also fully aware I can't.

Maia channels Frida Khalo for the camera... My Thespian can also inspire me in creating images while she plays the character.

This midweek I am finding myself  in a introspective place and once again I am defining my boundaries... Drawing those dreaded lines in the sand. It could be the pending birthday in exactly 7 days... Could be I see the warnings all around me and I am crawling into safety... It could also be that I know I am enough and no longer fear the loneliness... I am aware and I am not alone. I give this heart and mind a vacation...
Free of pain and suffering... unattached and completely emancipated... Living life on Kairos standard time... Listening to the thunder and respecting Mother Nature...

Hoping that all your lines in the sand are clear...
Happy Midweek Peeps... Stay Sweet...

  1. Fantastic photos!

Birthdays usually bring time to our attention... the illusion of time . . .

Most of the time I feel like I'm fluttering around like a butterfly completely unaware of any time passing at all until I see it reflected on other faces.
Time is a funny thing because I see pieces of a naive young girl still such a tight part of my spirit while at the same time having gained so much knowledge.

  2. Time is a funny thing. It makes us remember our past, but it also makes think about our future. It seems that time slips from me at times and I want it to slow down.
