The south right now is being beaten by a winter storm only rain and very cold winds are being felt here in my neck of the woods. No snow but a slush like rain that like cotton candy it melts when it comes to contact with the wet ground. The day is grey and dreary and the news of the shooting in Arizona are making me reflect in so many ways.
Among the six killed and the 13 injured there was a girl born on September 11th, 2001. Being born on a day when the nation mourned together and leaving on another tragic day. Christina Taylor was 9 years old a member of her student council she also was the only girl on her Little League Baseball team. She played second base.
Not sure who has the answers when such nonsense occurs and I am also not sure who do we look for or into when searching for answers to such sadness and unfairness. The 1st thing that comes into mind is that we need to be more mindful and more aware about the power of speech specially our community leaders. We really need to be more tolerant and embracing. We really need to learn to care and love one another. After all if we live in a christian nation shouldn't we live under that tenet?!

ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if people would become accountable for taking care of the planet right down to each community and all living in it.
I hate the fact that this happened in my hometown. Now we're finding out that, to add salt to the wound, the Westboro Baptist Church will be protesting at the funerals of those slain. I am quite sad that on Thursday, when the funeral for the 9 year old girl occurs, I have to be in class for a test. Tucsonans are organizing a human barricade between members of the "church" and the funeral. It will be a peaceful demonstration, just a human wall. I am hoping that I can participate in the barricade for some of the other funerals that occur here.
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to wrap my brain around what happened, even more so, the fact that it happened here in my hometown. I've been praying for the injured and their families, and those slain. The person that did this is a pitiful excuse for a human being.
Wow! So sorry that happened, that is terrible! My sympathy is with all the families of the people that got killed.
