Maps...

Tonight was tough because she could not get settled and she cried for her sister because that is all she wanted. To sleep with her sister she demanded but it is a school night and her sister is sleeping and she is screaming and the one and only choice she has is me...

And I know I am second best and that at this moment no one or anything will do. You would think that as a mother I would feel unwanted or inadequate but I give in to her feelings and she senses that I understand... that I do know and recognize all she wants is her and not me. But she settles for me and I am happy and I have no ill feelings because the love she has for her is one I have felt before.

She falls asleep next to me and I trace each curl with my pinky finger. I am content. Tonight the full moon is also riding high releasing a shimmery light among the clouds. Marking paths between the broken clouds and they look like maps... Maps of places I have been.

Cocktail Break...
I shared this on my Facebook Blog Page but we all know you can't count on the updates.
To me it looks like Santa's suit and perfect for Christmas brunch.

So we've begun the decorating of the house and the thought of putting up twinkling lights around the house is reason enough for celebration. We are looking forward to family visiting, sleepovers and our yearly Winter celebration. I hope the Christmas spirit is reaching the corners of your world. If you are having a hard time look up into the skies. It might provide you with maps to guide you.

  4. I am trying that recipe this weekend. LOOK YUMMY! I hadn't thought the clouds were maps. I drove home from work last night wondering if the clouds were inviting me in for a night dream. It's raining here in the Bay area and the clouds are doing their best to look ominous but I know they are not.

  7. It's wonderful the two M's seek each other out, because sometimes all you really want is your sibling. You made me smile.
