Thirsty...

I remember the first day of school of any given year and I remembered the anxiety that would always creep up the night before. I would lay in bed always imagining what would happen next. The same we can say of Christmas or any given holiday when we are kids. As adults those feel good anxieties moments subsides. They can only be found the night before your wedding...in the arrival of a child or when we find a new job that we are passionate about. I long for those days of happy excitement and anxiety of the unknown and this is the reason why I chose to do the collective show this past month.

This Saturday we take the pieces down from the show. It's over the time is up. Blogging and the artist collective show have awaken within me and reignited a passion that I thought was lost in the ether. I never thought that the journey of weaving my words and images would reach anyone other than my friends and family... Like a patchwork quilt I was trying to build a blanket for my children. So they could remember and recount our lives... We tend to always remember the bitter parts never the sweet. I  also never thought that saying yes to the show would bring various offers from local art galleries as well as new art projects and collaborations. Just when I think I am done reinventing myself a new chapter in my life is added.
Which reminded me.... As adults sometimes we settle... we give up.

We allow circumstances and our environment to dictate what and who should we be.
We tend to quiet that inner child that resides within us and with the utmost diligence we put our inner flame out as we are quenching some undeniable thirst. But that is the very thing that my children are reminding me of.
I need to not quiet my inner child... to let it speak... to let it run...wild and untamed...original and authentic.

So I tell myself...Do not attempt and try to quench that thirst go ahead and quench it once and for all.

So for now... I oblige... and I go around clicking my camera and writing new entries to my blog which are reaching parts of this world that I never knew or been to and I am learning, growing and connecting.
Enjoying the innocence and allowing my inner child to run free along with my imagination and I am so glad you are joining me on this ride.

So I ask...

Do you let your inner child run free?

  1. Lovely post, and really beautiful photos! I can realte to the feelings you expressed and the need to let my inner child out. I have found a lot of happiness in raising my children, a lot of my creative energy comes out in how I deal with the issues each child is working on. I also have found much happiness in my garden and lately my roses. But I guess the biggest creative piece has been released this year with the start of my blog. Thanks again for a great post! Happy Weekend.

  8. You're posts are always just so soulful and beautiful. I haven't seen a photo that I haven't liked yet. I wanted to share your blog on facebook using the fb send, but the box hides behind your header. I've found it can't be added in a widget on my blog, it does the same thing. you may want to add it to your theme's page template.

To answer your question. I don't let my inner child out often enough. She's been poking her head out of late.
