let me eat turkey...

All the remnants of Halloween are now gone although I do see a string of spider lights dangling as the cooler and much windier November is now fast approaching. The commercials are already playing Christmas jingles on the TV and pressuring us into shopping until we drop from now until December the 26th

I hate jumping into the winter season without enjoying the fall weather. All the color and changes from our leaves to the sunlight. Please TV and radio announcers allow me to taste, smell and enjoy the season.  I want to taste each season like cotton candy and let it melt in my mouth and allow all senses to be engaged.  Let my hands get sticky with caramel apples and pumpkin pies…let me play in the fallen leaves and engage in a game of football which I only enjoy during fall weather while wearing jeans and a sweatshirt.

The house at this time of the year always feel cozy andyummy I tend to spend most of my day in the kitchen and the house is always inundated with the aromas of something cooking and or baking.  As I was preparing lunch today Jorge decided to teach Mia to stick her tongue out and of course she obliged for at least an hour she would stick her tongue out and growl… You can see the pride and happiness of the big brother in the pictures after he accomplished his goal like a kid that teaches his puppy a new trick… he was proud.

I began planning my thanksgiving menu and getting ideas everywhere I can. I just want to make this year the most memorable and enjoyable... my family feels so complete with the arrival of Mia…I got a feeling that will be celebrating for years to come everything, every holiday, including Flag Day.

  1. I am not sure what it is, but I appreciate fall more and more as I get older. I love the cool, crisp air, the smell of the fallen leaves and the warm sweaters.
    I love the connection I see between your kids in the pictures. Happy Wednesday.

  2. One of my very favorite children's books is "When Will the Snow Trees Grow" - and your post reminded me of it. I love Fall, but it does not linger like Spring, Summer or Winter. Maybe that is why it is so cozy and sweet - it isn't like a guest you grow tired of:).
